With over 10,000 users already of Vizioncore’s vOptimizer, it makes sense for them to offer a freeware version for people to play with it before buying the full network version. vOptimizer works by reducing the size of a virtual machine to the smallest size possible while optimizing Windows guest operating systems for speed and performance.

This free version is a reduced version of their Desktop edition that allows modifying of local VM files. Their network edition allows modifying of network VM files.

VMware announced today the release of Virtual Infrastructure 3.5. The release will include ESX server 3.5 and VirtualCenter 2.5. Some of the key new features included are below.

Frank Kohler, the project manager for Virtualisation at SUSE recently went through the new additions to openSUSE 10.3. If you’re wanting to either dabble in virtualisation or use it in production, this seems to be the OS of choice. From Xen to VirtualBox, QEMU and KVM – this release comes with it all.

On a side note, Virtual Iron recently announced that they will be using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for it’s base. SUSE sure seems to be the big player now in the VM market.
